Delhi: The grandson of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, announced a massive agitation on June 17 in Mumbai against the controversial remarks made by Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad. After Prakash Ambedkar's announcement, Mumbai Police is on high alert to prevent any untoward incident. Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Vase Patil said that the police is on alert to ensure that the law and order situation in the state does not deteriorate.

As the Prophet's remarks heated up controversy, protests turned violent in several states and police had to lathi-charge and use tear gas to disperse the crowd. Protesters pelted stones and torched vehicles in Ranchi, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Lucknow, parts of West Bengal and others demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma.
