This firing took place in the Bay of Bengal under the Eastern Command of the Indian Navy. It is being considered as the answer for the Chinese Navy.

China will face tough competition

The R-class destroyers and their powerful weapons, both indigenous, are another shining symbol of self-reliance and the Indian Navy's firepower at sea. They dominate blue waters and have the capability to face all challenges from adversaries, especially the Chinese PLA Navy.

According to the top official of BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd, an Indo-Russian joint venture, which produces supersonic cruise missiles. These can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land platforms at a speed of Mach 2.8 or almost three times that speed. India is also exporting BrahMos missiles to the Philippines and some other countries. The Navy has also tested its extended range capability.
