BJP has won the election of cooperative society in Nandigram in East Medinipur district of West Bengal. It is the constituency of Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. A district official said that the BJP has won 11 out of 12 seats of the Bhekutia Sambaya Krishi Samiti, while one seat has gone to the Trinamool Congress.

The election took place on Sunday and during this time there were clashes between the workers of both the parties. A BJP candidate, who won the election, alleged that the Trinamool tried to bring in outsiders to obstruct the election, but voters scuttled their plans.

The case of assault on women heated up

In the pictures aired on the news channel, some women are seen assaulting a member of a local panchayat samiti. The person is said to be a member of Trinamool Congress. He was rescued by the policemen of Nandigram police station. A Trinamool spokesperson was contacted for details about the incident, but declined to comment.

Suvendu Adhikari has thanked the voters by tweeting on this victory. He said, "You have given victory to BJP... My nationalist greetings to the voters of Bhekutia Sambaya Krishi Samiti of Nandigram constituency. This victory will lead to more successes in the future. Congratulations!'
