The Election Commission of India has announced by-elections to be held in 7 assembly seats in 6 states. According to the list released by the Election Commission, all these seats will go to polls on November 3. The results will be announced on November 6. The 7 assembly seats for which by-elections are to be held include 2 in Bihar and one each in Maharashtra.

New Delhi : The Election Commission of India has announced by-elections to be held in 7 assembly seats in 6 states. According to the list released by the Election Commission, all these seats will go to polls on November 3. The results will be announced on November 6. The 7 assembly seats for which by-elections are to be held include 2 in Bihar and one each in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, Odisha.

By-elections are to be held on Mokama and Gopalganj in Bihar, Andheri East in Maharashtra, Adampur in Haryana, Manugod in Telangana, Gola Gokarnath in Uttar Pradesh and Dhamnagar (Reserved) seat in Odisha.

Why are these seats vacant?

Bihar's Gopalganj seat fell vacant after the death of BJP leader Subhash Singh. RJD's Anant Singh won the election from Mokama assembly seat. He was named as an accused for keeping AK-47 in the house and his membership was cancelled. Now this seat is vacant. At the same time, Gokarna Nath seat of Lakhimpur Kheri district of UP has fallen vacant due to the death of MLA Arvind Giri.

If we talk about Haryana, then the Adampur assembly seat here fell vacant after the resignation of Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi. Bishnoi resigned from Congress and joined BJP. Shiv Sena's Ramesh Latte won from Maharashtra's Andheri East assembly seat, but the seat has been vacant since his death.
