Got a chance for 7 days

The deadline to exchange and deposit Rs 2000 notes in banks is 7th October i.e. today. Before that this deadline was fixed as 30th September. Later it was increased to October 7. In such a situation, people, especially NRIs, were given an extra time of one week to exchange these notes.

After October 7 i.e. today, exchange of Rs 2000 bank notes will be allowed only in 19 RBI issue offices. There will be a maximum cash deposit limit of Rs 20,000 notes per transaction. At any of the 19 issue offices of RBI, people or institutions can issue Rs 2000 bank notes for credit of any amount into their Indian bank accounts.

RBI Governor gave information

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has given important information regarding Rs 2000 note. He told that out of the Rs 3.43 lakh crore Rs 2,000 notes returned since May, 87 percent have come in the form of deposits in banks. He said that there are still Rs 12 thousand crore Rs 2000 notes in the market and have not returned to the banking system. Banks are also waiting for these notes. Rs 12 thousand crores is not less.
