Cold wave will continue to prevail in Rajasthan for the next three days. Temperatures may drop by 2-3 degrees in Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. School holidays have been extended in 20 districts. There is a possibility of change in weather and light rain from January 11.

Rajasthan Weather Update: The cold wave in Rajasthan is intensifying. For the next three days, districts in the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions will experience cold-day conditions due to the impact of northern winds. The Meteorological Department has predicted a drop of 2-3°C in temperatures in these regions. A cold wave alert has been issued for six districts in the state. Additionally, over 20 districts have declared school holidays due to the severe cold.

Extension of School Holidays

In light of the increasing cold, the Director of Secondary Education, Ashish Modi, has authorized district collectors to extend school holidays until January 11. Under this directive, students from classes 1 to 8 in several districts will have an extended break.

Impact of the Cold

In the past 24 hours, daytime temperatures in several districts have dropped by 4-8°C below normal. Dholpur recorded the coldest day with a maximum temperature of just 13.2°C. Similar significant drops were observed in cities like Karauli, Alwar, Baran, Kota, Sikar, and Sri Ganganagar.

Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

According to the Meteorological Center in Jaipur, weather conditions in the state are likely to change from January 11. Some areas may experience cloud cover and light rainfall. From January 8 to 10, a mild cold wave effect will persist in northern, eastern (Bharatpur division), and southern Rajasthan (Udaipur and Kota divisions).

Minimum Temperatures Above Average

While maximum temperatures are registering below average, minimum temperatures remain 3-5°C above average. Cities like Churu, Phalodi, Pilani, Sri Ganganagar, and Bhilwara recorded minimum temperatures higher than the normal levels.

Timeline of Holidays

Schools were already closed from December 25 to January 5. January 6 was a holiday for Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. Schools were set to reopen on January 7, but the cold conditions have led to extended holidays in many districts.
