Delhi Elections 2025: The dates for the Delhi Assembly elections have been announced. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar informed on Tuesday that elections in the capital will be held in a single phase on February 5, and the results will be declared on February 8. This will be a major celebration of democracy for over 15 million voters.

Voter Count and Polling Preparations

A total of 33,330 polling stations have been set up in Delhi. Efforts are being made to make many of these polling stations attractive and convenient. The capital has 8.349 million male voters and 7.9 million female voters. Additionally, 0.8 million new voters have registered this time, and 830 voters are aged over 100 years.

The Chief Election Commissioner mentioned that differently-abled voters can access information about polling stations and their facilities through the Saksham app. Voters aged above 85 years will be provided with the option of voting from home using Form 12D.

Transparency in the Electoral Process

The Election Commission has taken several steps to ensure transparency in the election process. Rajiv Kumar stated that if mock poll data is not cleared from any EVM, that machine is set aside. Protocols regarding victory margins and VVPAT verification are strictly followed.

He clarified that after the 2019 Supreme Court order, the process of counting votes from five VVPATs was adopted. A total of 45 million votes were counted, and 67,000 VVPATs were verified without a single discrepancy. He assured that the election process would remain entirely impartial and reliable.

Digital Platforms and Complaint Resolution

The Election Commission has leveraged digital technology to provide multiple facilities for voters and candidates:

  • C-Vigil App: For reporting electoral misconduct or complaints.
  • Suvidha Portal: For candidates to apply online and access various services.
  • Voter Helpline: For voters to check their details and locate polling stations.
The Election Commission has promised to address complaints within 100 minutes.

Special Appeal by the Chief Election Commissioner

In his announcement, Rajiv Kumar used three poems to encourage voter awareness. He emphasized that Delhi’s election process is a benchmark for the world. Every detail and resource is available online for voters and candidates.

Conclusion

This election is crucial for the voters of Delhi. Through transparency, technology, and awareness, the Election Commission aims to make the process smooth and fair. On February 5, Delhi will exercise its democratic right, taking a step toward forming a new government, with the results to follow on February 8.
