Just before the Punjab and UP elections, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who was lodged in Rohtak's Sunaria jail, has been granted a furlough of 21 days by the Haryana government. Ram Rahim will be under the supervision of the police at Sirsa Dera. Due to this, the police increased the security around the jail on Monday. Ram Rahim will be taken from the jail to the camp under the supervision of the police. Gurugram Police has reached Rohtak. Superintendent of Police Uday Singh Meena has taken three rounds of meetings of police officers regarding law and order. A police team can be sent with Ram Rahim under the leadership of DSP Headquarters.Ram Rahim was sentenced in August 2017 by a special CBI court in the rape case of two sadhvis. Later he was also convicted in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case and Ranjit murder case. Under prison rules, any prisoner can take parole or furlough. Its decision has to be taken by the government and district administration after looking at law and order or other objections. Recently, Ram Rahim had sought a furlough of 21 days from the jail administration. The jail administration had sent an application to the government. It is being told that on Monday, Ram Rahim got the green signal of furlough.Ram Rahim came out of jail five times in a year
- 12 May 2021: Ram Rahim complains of blood pressure and restlessness. Due to this he was brought to PGI for examination.
- May 17, 2021: Ram Rahim granted parole for one day to meet his mother. He was taken to Gurugram under police protection.
- June 3, 2021: Ram Rahim complained of stomach ache, due to which he was brought to PGI.
- June 8, 2021: Ram Rahim was taken to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. It was argued that the health tests of Ram Rahim could not be done at PGI Rohtak. So he had to be taken to Gurugram.
- 09 August 2021: Moved to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.
