Haryana Election 2024: As the days are approaching for the Haryana Assembly elections, political activities are intensifying. Leaders of BJP, Congress, and other parties are busy in their election rallies and campaigning. Meanwhile, an important development has come to light amid the election heat. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets worth more than Rs 44 crore of entities linked to Congress MLA Rao Dan Singh and some others, including his son, in a money laundering case. Let us know the full details of this case and its political ramifications.

Who is Rao Dan Singh?

65-year-old Rao Dan Singh is a four-time Congress MLA from Mahendragarh assembly constituency in Haryana. He is a veteran politician and businessman who also contested from the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat but lost to BJP's Dharambir Singh. The Congress has again given him a ticket from Mahendragarh for the upcoming assembly elections, where voting will take place on October 5, 2024. The election results will be declared on October 8.

Properties Seized

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that it has seized assets worth more than Rs 44 crore of various entities linked to Rao Dan Singh and his son Akshat Singh. This includes 31 flats of Koban Residency located in Sector 99A, Gurugram, Haryana, 2.25 acres of land in Harsaru village of Gurugram and other properties. Along with this, properties of entities associated with Suncity Projects Private Limited and ILD Group have also been seized in Delhi, Gurugram, Rewari and Jaipur.

What is the whole case of money laundering?

This case is related to a bank loan fraud of Rs 1,392.86 crore. This action is based on a case registered by the CBI on a company called Allied Strips Limited. The ED alleges that Rao Dan Singh's entities had received about Rs 19 crore from the money received through this loan fraud. However, the ED also said that Rao Dan Singh and his family members have not yet joined the investigation.

Impact on the election environment

This development may have an impact on the Haryana assembly elections. Due to serious allegations like money laundering and confiscation of properties, opposition parties will try to capitalize on this issue. At the same time, this can become a big challenge for the Congress, especially when every seat is important for the party's victory in the assembly elections.

Rao Dan Singh, who has already been an MLA four times, may come under political pressure due to these allegations. However, the Congress is still supporting him and is hoping that this issue does not prove to be a burden for him in the electoral field.

Conclusion

Such legal action before the Haryana assembly elections can heat up the election environment. These allegations against Rao Dan Singh and his family can create problems for the Congress, while the BJP and other parties can use this matter as an election weapon. Now it remains to be seen to what extent this issue affects the election campaign and what effect it has on the voters.
