Rajasthan News: The Transport Department has started the process of installing high security number plates including color coded stickers on old vehicles registered before April 1, 2019 in Rajasthan. The department has authorized vehicle dealers to install high security registration number plates in old vehicles. In such a situation, vehicle owners will be able to get a new number plate installed by applying online. The Transport Department has started a portal for this. Where the vehicle owners will go to the website of Automobile Manufacturers Society of India through the link available on the website of the department. Where slot booking can be done for installing high security registration number plate by selecting the concerned district, vehicle category and dealer. Payment for number plates will be made online only.

After making the online payment, no additional fee will be charged from the vehicle owner. Action will be taken against vehicles if high security registration number plates are not installed within the prescribed limit. The number of vehicles registered in the state before April 1, 2019 is 1 crore 87 lakh, which includes about 1 crore vehicles older than 15 years.a

Along with high security registration number plate, color coded stickers will also be installed on the wind screen free of cost. After installation of these stickers, there will be no challan for vehicles going to Delhi and NCR. Different stickers will be installed according to the type of vehicles.

Let us tell you that for about five years, the process of installing high security registration number plates in old vehicles registered before April 1, 2019 was stuck in Rajasthan. Challans were being issued for such vehicles of Rajasthan in other states. Due to this, vehicle owners were facing problems.

Time limit for installing high security number plate

• Vehicles whose last digit of registration number is 1 or 2 - till 29th February
• Vehicles whose last digit of registration number is 3 or 4 - till 31 March
• Vehicles whose last digit of registration number is 5 or 6 - till 30 April
• Vehicles whose last digit of registration number is 7 or 8 - till 31 May
• Vehicles whose last digit of registration number is 9 or 0 - till June 30

Rates for installing high security number plates

• Two wheeler – Rs 425
• Three wheeler – Rs 470
• Four-wheelers and light vehicles - Rs 695
• Medium and heavy motor vehicles – Rs 730
• Tractor and agricultural combination - Rs 495
