According to the report, India lags behind all South Asian countries in achieving sustainable development goals. Bhutan is ranked 75th, Sri Lanka 87th, Nepal 96th and Bangladesh 109th in this list. India's overall Sustainable Development Goal score is 66 out of 100. According to India's Environment Report 2022 released by Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav on Tuesday, the main reason for the decline in the country's ranking is the challenges of hunger, good health, happiness, gender equality.

India's poor performance on better life issues

According to the report, India also performed poorly on the issues of quality education and better life. Last year, India failed to achieve the goals of ending hunger, achieving food security, gender equality, resilient infrastructure, inclusive and sustainable industrialization, the report said. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by the member states of the United Nations in 2015 to establish peace and prosperity on earth. To achieve this status through global partnership, 17 goals of sustainable development have been set.

Kerala tops, Himachal second, Bihar and Jharkhand behind

According to the report, if we talk about state-wise preparedness, Jharkhand and Bihar are least prepared in terms of achieving the goal of sustainable development by 2030. Kerala is at the top in this matter. At the same time, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are in second place. Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand are on the third position.

Chandigarh tops in union territories

Chandigarh ranks first among union territories in terms of preparedness to achieve this goal. Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry are in second place, while Andaman and Nicobar is in third place.
