Petroleum companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder by Rs 6. These new rates have come into effect from today. However, the price of 14 kg domestic cylinder remains stable. This will affect hotels and restaurants, which will increase the burden on customers' pockets.

LPG Price Hike: The first day of March has brought a shock of inflation for consumers. Petroleum companies have increased the prices of 19 kg commercial gas cylinders. According to the latest rates released by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the price of the cylinder has been increased by Rs 6, which has become effective from March 1, 2025. However, the relief is that there has been no change in the price of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder.

How much have the prices increased in which cities?

As per the new prices applicable from March 2025, the prices of commercial gas cylinders in the four major metros of the country are as follows:

  • Delhi: ₹ 1803.00
  • Kolkata: ₹ 1913.00
  • Mumbai: ₹ 1755.50
  • Chennai: ₹ 1965.00
Earlier, in February 2025, the price of a 19 kg gas cylinder in Delhi was ₹ 1797, which has now increased by ₹ 6 to ₹ 1803. Similarly, in Kolkata it has increased from ₹ 1907 to ₹ 1913, in Mumbai from ₹ 1749.50 to ₹ 1755.50, and in Chennai from ₹ 1959.50 to ₹ 1965.

Domestic LPG cylinder prices stable

The rising cost of commercial cylinders will increase the additional burden on hotels, restaurants and catering businesses, which may also affect the common people. However, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain the same. The price of a 14 kg cylinder in Delhi remains ₹ 803, ₹ 829 in Kolkata, ₹ 802.50 in Mumbai and ₹ 818.50 in Chennai.

Impact of increased prices

The increase in the prices of commercial gas cylinders will have a direct impact on small and big restaurants, dhabas and hotel business. This is likely to increase the prices of food and other food items.

Can prices increase further?

Experts believe that the fluctuations in crude oil prices in the international market may affect the rates of domestic gas. If oil prices rise globally in the coming months, then gas cylinder prices may see further increase.
