India / Projects for planetary exploration, outer space travel to be open for pvt sector: Govt

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced that future projects for planetary exploration and outer space travel will be open for private sector. The private sector will be allowed to use ISRO facilities and other relevant assets to improve their capacities. She further announced that liberal geo-spatial data policy will be framed for private sector to access remote sensing data.

New Delhi: Future projects for planetary exploration and outer space travel will be made open to the private sector, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the fourth set of announcements on a mega stimulus package to help the economy amid the coronavirus crisis.

The new reforms in space sector include:

Since private players are coming in with innovative technology and space technology, the Centre will allow private players to benefit from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) assets and give them a level-playing field to boost India's space sector.
