Rajasthan / Rape accused arrested in 18 hours Court sentences 20 years in 5 days

In this case, the police filed a case against Kamlesh Meena, a resident of Balmukundpura and taking quick action, arrested Kamlesh within 18 hours.

Jaipur : A POCSO court in Jaipur on Tuesday sentenced a convict to 20 years in prison for raping a 9-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on him. The court did the entire hearing within five days. Whereas the police had arrested within 18 hours in the case.

Harendra Kumar, deputy commissioner of South Jaipur, said an attempt was made to rape and strangle a nine-year-old girl on the late evening of September 26. In this case, the police filed a case against Kamlesh Meena, a resident of Balmukundpura and taking quick action, arrested Kamlesh within 18 hours.

A case was registered in the matter under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO at Kotkhawada police station. The Deputy Commissioner said that keeping in view the gravity of the crime, 10 teams of 150 policemen were constituted.

After this, Kamlesh was produced in a POCSO court in Jaipur. The court convicted the accused in just five days and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. This is perhaps the first case in the judicial history of Rajasthan, where the sentence was pronounced in just five days.
