Bihar | Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Rajya Sabha MP RK Sinha and Nandkishore Yadav's meeting with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders including Lalu Prasad Yadav has given rise to new speculation in Bihar politics. The meeting, which took place on Friday night just ahead of the bypolls to two assembly seats in the state, has alarmed the Congress, which is alleging that there could be an alliance between the BJP and the RJD.

The meeting took place at the residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, in which Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav and party's National Vice President Shivanand Tiwari were also present. However, Sinha has tried to quell the speculations by calling it a courtesy call. "It was just a courtesy call to inquire about Lalu Yadav's well being. I have known Lalu Prasad Yadav since the days of students union in Patna University. I spent two hours there but there was no discussion on politics. He is undergoing treatment due to some such diseases, which I also had. He asked about the places where they could be treated.

Lalu Yadav has returned to Patna after three and a half years. Sources said that there are family ties between Lalu's and RK Sinha's family. Both are very old friends. An acquaintance of the family said, “RK Sinha was also not present in Patna for the last two years. In such a situation, when he came to Patna, he went to meet Lalu Yadav at his house." Coming from an RSS background, Sinha had recently appealed to the public, especially the Kayastha community, to vote for the NDA candidate in the by-elections. He praised the development of Bihar under the leadership of Nitish and control of inflation under the leadership of PM Modi.

The Congress, which has announced to break the alliance after a tussle with the RJD over the by-elections on two seats, sees something wrong in this meeting. Congress spokesperson Anand Madab said, "This proves our earlier allegations that there has been a secret agreement between the two parties (BJP-RJD). What were these leaders talking and discussing.

The RJD has denied the Congress allegations. RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan said, "The two have known each other for a long time. There is a personal relationship between the two. RJD does not need any secular certificate from anyone. Personal relationships should not be mixed with politics.
