Prajwal Revanna Case: Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexually harassing several women, was arrested after arriving in Bengaluru early today. After Prajwal arrived from Germany, the SIT arrested him at Kempegowda International Airport and took him to the CID office for questioning. Earlier on Wednesday, the local court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JDS patron former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, is accused of sexually harassing women. Prajwal Revanna went abroad on April 27, a day after voting for the Lok Sabha elections in his constituency.

SIT will present him in court today

At the same time, within 24 hours after the arrest, the SIT will present Prajwal Revanna in court and seek remand. Earlier, the Karnataka government had said on Thursday that if Prajwal Revanna does not return to the country, action like cancelling his passport will be taken. On the other hand, Prajwal had issued a video statement promising that he would appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the cases against him on May 31, i.e. today. According to official sources, Prajwal has booked a business class ticket on Lufthansa's Munich-Bengaluru flight.

Anticipatory bail plea pending

State Home Minister G Parameshwara had said that Prajwal will be arrested on his return and legal proceedings will be initiated. Let us tell you that Prajwal Revanna's anticipatory bail plea is pending in a special court in the city and it is likely to be heard today.

Parameshwara had said that the information is that Prajwal will come, he has booked the plane ticket. The SIT has made the necessary preparations. If he comes, the legal proceedings will begin. He said that as per the law, a warrant has been issued against him, so he will have to be arrested. The SIT will decide in this regard.

SIT will question him

He said that Prajwal has said in his video that he will appear before the SIT on May 31 (today) at 10 am. So I think he will come. If he does not come, then the process like cancelling his passport will be adopted. We will request Interpol through the CBI, as the state government cannot do it directly. We have to do this work through the agencies of the Government of India. A team of SIT officials is camping at the airport here to arrest Prajwal.
