CJI Chandrachud News: Recently, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud has made an important statement regarding the dialogue between the judiciary and the executive of India. Discussing the visit made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his residence during the Ganpati Puja, he has said that there was nothing wrong in this meeting. His statement came at a time when the opposition objected to the issue, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called it an integral part of the country's culture.

Need for maturity in political circles

CJI Chandrachud said during an event that the dialogue between the judiciary and the executive needs to be strengthened and it should be under an inter-institutional mechanism. He explained that the separation of powers does not mean that the two sides cannot meet or communicate with each other.

The CJI said, "In states, there is a protocol of the Chief Justice and the Administrative Committee of the High Court meeting the Chief Minister. In most of these meetings, basic issues like budget, infrastructure, technology etc. are discussed."

Importance of general social dialogue

When asked about PM Modi's visit to his residence, the CJI clarified that "PM came to my house for Ganpati puja. There is nothing wrong in it." He pointed out that there are continuous meetings between persons connected with the judiciary and the executive on issues related to normal life and society, not on matters which are decided in the court.

Supports open discussion on decisions

The CJI also said that there should be a sense of maturity in the political system, so that decisions taken by the courts can be openly discussed. He made it clear that the decisions of the judiciary are not kept secret and are evaluated on their written words.

Dialogue between the judiciary and the executive

The CJI emphasised that the dialogue between the judiciary and the executive should have nothing to do with the judicial side. "The separation of powers provides that the judiciary should not play the role of the executive," he said.

Ram Mandir issue also discussed

There was also discussion on his prayer statement on the issue of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Describing himself as a person who respects all religions, the CJI said that this is a problem of social media, and clarified the context in which he said his point.

This statement of CJI Chandrachud is part of an important dialogue, which takes a step forward towards better understanding and cooperation between the judiciary and the executive. His approach will not only help in improving the administration of law, but it will also strengthen the spirit of justice and unity in society.
