The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has found in its latest study that two doses of the vaccine reduce deaths from corona by 95 percent, while those taking a single dose reduce the risk of death by 82 percent. This study is published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research.

The study has been done on 1 lakh 17 thousand 524 personnel working in the Tamil Nadu Police Department who have taken one or both doses of the vaccine.

Researchers have told in their study, 'Our study indicates that even if the same dose of vaccine is taken, it reduces corona deaths. It is necessary to vaccinate a large population soon to reduce the deaths due to corona and to avoid its waves in the future.

The Tamil Nadu Police Department is preparing documents regarding the data on vaccination and corona deaths of all its members during the second wave. This document also contains the date of hospitalization and vaccination related information.

This data was used to estimate the deaths of policemen who took the vaccine and did not take them. A total of 1 lakh 17 thousand 524 policemen were working in the Tamil Nadu Police Department. This year, between February 1 and May 14, 32 thousand 792 soldiers had taken one dose of corona, while 67 thousand 673 had received the second dose. Apart from this, 17 thousand 59 jawans were not given vaccine.

Between April 13 and May 14, 31 personnel of the Tamil Nadu Police Department died of corona. Of these, four had received both doses of the vaccine, seven had received one dose and 20 had not received a single dose.
