Supreme Court: Various organizations across the country have called for a 'Bharat Bandh' on August 21 against the Supreme Court's decision on creamy layer in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservation. Many parties including BSP are supporting this bandh. In such a situation, the question is why Bharat Bandh has been called? Which is that decision of the Supreme Court, which the Dalit organizations are opposing? What are the demands of Dalit organizations? Why is lateral entry in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) under question? What will be open and what will remain closed during Bharat Bandh.Supreme Court's decision:The Supreme Court recently gave an important decision in which states were allowed to implement creamy layer in SC-ST reservation. The court believes that not all SC and ST castes are equally backward. The court gave special instructions to the state governments that they can make classification in reservation, but it should not be done arbitrarily. There is resentment among Dalit organizations regarding this decision, which consider it against the reservation policy.Bharat Bandh call and its impact:Many organizations have called for a Bharat Bandh in protest against the decision. During the bandh, public transport services and private offices are likely to be affected, although no official announcement has been made.Police on high alert:In view of the possibility of violence during the bandh, the police have increased vigilance in all districts, especially in western Uttar Pradesh.Services to remain open and closed:Hospitals, ambulances and emergency services will remain operational during the bandh. There is no official order yet regarding the opening or closing of banks and government offices.
