According to reports, in a major blow to Congress party's NRI leader Jhansi Reddy, the authorities have rejected her application for Indian citizenship. Jhansi Reddy had applied for Indian citizenship under Section 5(1)(g) of the Citizenship Act, 1955. He did philanthropic work in Palakurthi constituency of Telangana, which is currently represented by BRS leader and Panchayat Raj Minister E. Dayakar Rao. She had been actively campaigning in the constituency for the past few weeks in the hope of getting a ticket from the Congress.
