Rahul Gandhi News: After the Lok Sabha elections, a meeting of the constituent parties of the India Alliance was held. After the meeting, Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Rahul Gandhi will be the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party wrote a letter to the Protem Speaker and informed him. The issue of Lok Sabha Speaker was also discussed in the meeting. Earlier, in the Congress Working Committee meeting, a proposal was made to make Rahul Gandhi the Leader of the Opposition. Many Congress leaders had demanded to make Rahul Gandhi the Leader of the Opposition. Now Rahul Gandhi has accepted the proposal taken in the Congress Working Committee meeting.

Rahul Gandhi will hold a constitutional post for the first time in his political life. In this Lok Sabha election, Rahul Gandhi contested from two Lok Sabha seats Wayanad and Rae Bareli and won both the seats, but after the announcement of the election results, Rahul Gandhi left the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Congress National General Secretary and Priyanka Gandhi will contest as a Congress candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.

Congress MP and former president Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool Congress MPs Derek O'Brien and Kalyan Banerjee, Samajwadi's Ramgopal Yadav, DMK's TR Balu, RJD's Surendra Yadav, NCP (SP)'s Supriya Sule, RSP's NK Premachandran, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Arvind Sawant, RLP MP Hanuman Beniwal were present in this meeting.

Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to the Protem Speaker

KC Venugopal said that Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to the Protem Speaker informing that Rahul Gandhi will be the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He said that the names of other office bearers will be announced later.

The Congress has taken this decision on the second day of the start of the special session of the 18th Lok Sabha. In the last two days, the newly elected MPs were sworn in during the special session of the Lok Sabha. On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi took oath as an MP with the Constitution book. While taking the oath, Rahul Gandhi waved a copy of the Constitution and raised slogans of 'Jai Hind, Jai Samvidhaan'.

The decision was taken amid the fierce battle over the speaker

On the second day of the special session of the Lok Sabha, there was a fierce battle between the NDA and the India Block over the Lok Sabha Speaker. The ruling party announced the nomination of former Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as the candidate for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker again.

At the same time, the opposition demanded the post of Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha. After initial talks, the ruling party and the opposition could not agree on the post of Speaker. On the other hand, Congress announced K Suresh as the candidate for the post of Speaker.

However, amid the initial objection of NCP and Trinamool Congress on the Congress proposal, a meeting of the constituent parties of the India Block was held on Tuesday evening. In this meeting, the proposal to make Rahul Gandhi the leader of the opposition was unanimously approved.
