West Bengal News: West Bengal Governor C.V. Anand Bose on Friday filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Calcutta High Court. Mamata Banerjee on Thursday made a comment about C.V. Anand Bose. Mamata had said that women have complained to her that they are afraid to go to the Raj Bhavan due to recent incidents there. Anand Bose has filed a defamation case against Mamata for this statement.

According to the source, the governor had earlier in the day criticized Banerjee's remarks and said that public representatives are expected not to make 'wrong and defamatory assumptions'. The source said that the governor has filed a defamation case against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders for making similar remarks against him.

During an administrative meeting at the state secretariat, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday claimed that "women have complained to me that they are afraid to go to the Raj Bhavan due to the recent incidents there." The source said, "Governor CV Anand Bose on Friday moved the Calcutta High Court and filed a defamation suit against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party leaders for the remarks made against him." A contract woman employee of the Raj Bhavan had accused Governor Bose of molestation on May 2, after which the Kolkata Police started investigating the matter.

Raj Bhavan had criticized

Amid the deadlock over the swearing-in of two newly elected MLAs of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), the office of West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose on Friday criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her statement in which she said that women allegedly feel unsafe to go to the Raj Bhavan. The Raj Bhavan had said that public representatives are expected not to create "wrong perceptions".
