Coronavirus Vaccine / Covishield and Covaccine: List of countries in Europe where they have been recognized, know what was the whole controversy

New Delhi. CovaShield, an anti-coronavirus vaccine, awaits approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA), while Covaxin awaits approval from the World Health Organization (WHA). But in the meantime, some countries of Europe are giving recognition to both these vaccines. In such a situation, when these countries withdraw their order of travel ban on India, then those Indians who have taken either of these two vaccines will not have to face any kind of problem.

Significantly, the vaccine has been developed by Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech in partnership with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Its emergency use was approved on January 3. Covishield, on the other hand, has been developed by the University of Oxford and UK-Sweden-based AstraZeneca and is produced by Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII).

To increase the testing of corona vaccine, the center has prepared two labs in Pune and Hyderabad with PM Cares fund.

Covishield approved in these countries:

Austria, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain.

Apart from these countries, Switzerland and Iceland, which are included in the European Union, have also recognized Covishield for travel. Reports claim that Finland and Latvia have also approved Kovishield, while both Kovishield and Kovaxin have been approved from Estonia.

What was the dispute?

Actually, the European Union has introduced the Green Pass between EU countries from 1 July, it works like a travel pass. It mentions that people vaccinated with any of the four vaccines Pfizer/BioNtech, Moderna, AstraZeneca-Oxford's Vaxgerviria and Johnson & Johnson's Janssen will be allowed to travel to EU countries. Since these vaccine names did not mention Covishield, while its counterpart Vaxgeriviria was named, it raised fears that Indians who had vaccinated against Covishield and Covaxin would not be able to travel to European countries.

1. Currently Indians cannot travel to many European countries due to travel restrictions.

2. The European Union clarified that the Green Pass is not for outside travellers.

3. The vaccine is not yet mandatory for international travel. Even now, to allow outside passengers, some instructions like negative RT-PCR test report as well as quarantine as per local rules have to be followed.

4. Serum Institute of India has said that it has applied for the EMA's approval which may take around a month.

5. India has urged EU member states to individually recognize Covishield and Covaxin. Along with this, India has also said that vaccinated Indians should be treated in the same way as those vaccinated in EU countries. Along with its appeal, India had also clearly said in a diplomatic tone that if Kovishield and Covaxin are not recognized in the European Union countries, then people with the EU vaccine will also not be exempted from the quarantine rules in India. .
