Bengaluru-based pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila has sought approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use of its DNA vaccine for people aged 12 years and above. If this vaccine is approved by DCGI, then soon this vaccine may be included in the ongoing vaccination campaign in the country. According to news agency ANI, Zydus Cadila has applied to India's top drug regulator, Drugs Controller General of India, seeking approval for emergency use of its DNA vaccine Zycov-D. This vaccine from Zydus Cadila is for people 12 years of age and above. The company has presented data from the Phase III trial of the vaccine, in which more than 28,000 volunteers participated. According to Reuters, the vaccine has stood on the standards of safety and efficacy in interim data.

Clinical trial data from Zydus Cadila's Phase III vaccine suggests that Zycov-D vaccine is safe for children aged 12 to 18 years. The company plans to manufacture 100-120 million doses of corona vaccines annually. It is worth noting that Dr NK Arora, President of the Kovid Working Group has said that the trial of Zydus Cadila Vaccine is almost complete. By the end of July or in August, we can start giving this vaccine to children aged 12-18.
