Rajya Sabha: On Friday, there was a heated debate between Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar in the Rajya Sabha. After the debate ended, Jaya Bachchan spoke to the media outside the House and accused Jagdeep Dhankhar. Jaya Bachchan had objected to the way Jagdeep Dhankhar spoke in the House. She said that she is an actress, an artist, understands the tone and the tone or body language of the chairman is not right. On this, Jagdeep Dhankhar said that of course you understand the tone, but an actor has to listen to the director. I am the director here, so listen to me, sit down.

After coming out of the House, Jaya Bachchan said, "As long as he (Jagdeep Dhankhar) is sitting on the chair, it is fine, but outside the House he is also like an ordinary MP. He is not our food provider. I had objected to the tone of the chairman. He turns off the mic when the opposition leader is speaking. He uses words like brainless. He said, 'You may be a celebrity, but it does not matter to me.' On this I said that I am an MP and let me speak. He should apologize. He is sitting on the chair and it should matter to him."

Jaya Bachchan has had a tussle with the Chairman earlier too

Jaya Bachchan has had tussles with the Chairman in Rajya Sabha earlier too. In this session itself, when Deputy Chairman Harivansh was presiding over the House, he addressed Jaya Bachchan by her full name (Jaya Amitabh Bachchan). Jaya Bachchan objected to this and said that in today's time women are known by their husband's name, as if a woman has no identity of her own. On this Harivansh had said that you have earned a name on your own.

Dhankhar had replied

Jagdeep Dhankhar had replied to this in Rajya Sabha the next day. He said that Harivansh's image is that of a simple and calm person who follows the rules. Along with this, he had said that Jaya's name in the records is Jaya Amitabh Bachchan only. In such a situation, Harivansh had not done anything wrong. Interestingly, when Jaya got a chance to speak on Friday, she herself took her name as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan.

Dhankhar had left the chair in the middle of the proceedings

On Thursday, saddened by the unruly conduct of some opposition members, Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar left the chair saying that he was not able to sit in the House for some time. The opposition had sought permission to raise the issue of Vinesh Phogat. When this was not done, the opposition leaders started making noise. Meanwhile, Dhankhar said to Derek, "Your conduct in the House is the worst. You are shouting on the chair. I condemn this. Next time I will show you the door. How dare you shout on the chair?" Pointing his hand towards the leader of the opposition, the Speaker said that other senior leaders are not paying any attention to this (Derek's conduct). He said, "This is unfortunate conduct." Meanwhile, the entire opposition walked out of the House shouting slogans. After some time Dhankhar also left the seat and the Zero Hour was conducted by Harivansh.
