Senior BJP leader of Rajasthan Om Prakash Mathur has been made the Governor of Sikkim, Gulab Chand Kataria has been made the Governor of Punjab. Kataria was earlier the Governor of Assam. He has been given the additional responsibility of the Administrator of Chandigarh.

Banwarilal Purohit's resignation accepted

The press release said that President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from the post of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. According to the release, "Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of Governor of Manipur." Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the new Governor of Jharkhand in place of Radhakrishnan.

The statement said that Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. Apart from this, Jishnu Dev Verma will be the Governor of Telangana while Om Prakash Mathur will be the new Governor of Sikkim. The release said that Ramen Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayshankar as the Governor of Meghalaya. The statement said that K. Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. This appointment will be effective from the date they assume charge. Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde was born on 17 August 1945 in a Maratha family in Fulambari town of Aurangabad district. He was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1985 from Aurangabad East seat. He won the MLA election from Fulambari constituency against Kalyan Kale of Indian National Congress (INC) in 2014. He won the 2019 assembly elections from the same constituency. When the BJP formed its first government in Maharashtra in 2014, he was appointed the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He has also been a former cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.
