Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday held a meeting of top officials of the police department here in Rajasthan, as the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party continuously attacked the state government for law and order in the state and said that atrocities against women, POCSO Act and In cases of atrocities against SC-ST and weaker sections, investigation should be completed at an accelerated pace.Review meeting via video conference:Gehlot held a review meeting through video conference on the issues related to heinous crime, crime against women, Dalits and tribals and control of organized crimes. The Chief Minister told the officials in this meeting that the investigation in cases of atrocities against women, POCSO Act and atrocities against Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and weaker sections should be completed at an accelerated pace.Research tax complainant should be given timely justice:Gehlot said that from the office of the Superintendent of Police to the Circle level, the police station and the police post, research should be done in these cases with sensitivity and justice is given to the complainant on time. The Chief Minister said that the police has an important responsibility to protect the general public. Recently, some incidents have come to light, only serious cases of women atrocities have been registered against police officers.Instructions to complete the investigation in the pending cases in the shortest time:On being found involved in such cases, he directed to take the strongest action against the concerned police officer or policemen. The Chief Minister directed to complete the investigation in pending cases of atrocities against women in the shortest possible time. He said that cases of crime against women and atrocities against SC-ST and weaker sections should be monitored in a time-bound manner at the level of Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Principal Secretary (Home).Research work will accelerate:At the beginning of the meeting, Director General of Police M.L. Lather thanked the Chief Minister for the provisions made for the Police Department in the budget, especially for the acceptance of the posts of 3500 Assistant Sub Inspectors. He said that this will speed up research work. Additional Director General of Police (Civil Rights) Neena Singh said that the average research time in rape cases has come down to 122 days in 2019-20 from 269 days in 2017-18. It is noteworthy that the BJP is constantly targeting the state government for crimes against the law and order especially women in the state.
