Manipur Violence News: Violence in Manipur has been going on continuously for the last 3 months and there is no sign of it ending. Meanwhile, the Kuki People's Alliance (KPA), an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has withdrawn its support to the N Biren Singh government in Manipur. This decision has been taken by the Kuki People's Alliance at a time when most of the Kuki MLAs from different parties are unlikely to attend the assembly session starting on August 21 in view of the ongoing caste violence in the state.

KPA sent a letter to the governor

In a letter sent to Governor Anusuiya Uikey, KPA chief Tongmang Haokip has informed about the decision of the party (KPA) to break ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Manipur. Haokip said, "After much deliberation on the current situation, there is no point in continuing to support Chief Minister Biren Singh's government, so the KPA withdraws its support to the Biren government."

The KPA has 2 MLAs in the 60-member assembly, while the BJP has 32, while it has the support of 5 NPF and three independent MLAs. On the other hand, there are 7 MLAs from NPP, 5 from Congress and 6 from JDU among the opposition MLAs.

COCOMI, the apex Meitei organization spearheading the demand for an early assembly session to "unanimously" reject the demand for a separate administrative unit for the Kuki community, claimed that the presence of tribal legislators would I will ensure their safety.

Earlier, Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) President Tongmang Haokip had said that it would not be safe for our legislators to come to the capital Imphal. BJP MLA Vungjagin Valte, representing Thanlon, was brutally assaulted there, he is currently undergoing treatment.

'No solution on cookie demand'

Haokip said that no solution has been found so far on the demands of the Kuki community regarding the ongoing violence and separate administration in the state, due to which it will not be possible for the Kuki-Jomi-Hamar legislators to attend the assembly session.

Experts related to the cases claim that due to the absence of Kuki MLAs, there is no possibility of any meaningful debate on the caste violence going on for three months. More than 160 people have lost their lives in this violence.

Several Kuki organizations of Manipur Kuki Impi Manipur (KIM), Kuki Students Organization (KSO), Kuki Chiefs Association (KSAM) and Kuki Women's Union (KWU) advised the MLAs to avoid traveling to Imphal to attend the session Is.

On the other hand, the Naga Hoho, a very powerful body of the Naga tribe, has also asked 10 Naga legislators in Manipur not to attend the session. The body claims that the Manipur government has been working against holding peace talks with the Naga groups.
