First litmus test after Lok Sabha elections

Out of 13 seats in 7 states, BJP has got only 2 seats. Opposition parties have won 10 seats. An independent candidate has won the Rupauli seat in Bihar. Overall, it can be believed that the NDA alliance has suffered a big defeat in this by-election. Although the parties of the INDIA alliance contested against each other on some seats, BJP could not get any benefit from it.

BJP's concern increased due to the results of the by-elections?

The results of the assembly by-elections in 7 states have increased the concern of the BJP. While on one hand the BJP could not get a majority on its own in the Lok Sabha, now the party has suffered a big setback due to the big defeat in the assembly. BJP has won only 2 seats in the by-elections, while in Bengal, BJP has also lost the 3 seats it had won in the 2021 assembly elections. If we talk about Bihar, then both NDA and INDIA alliance have faced defeat here. Neither CM Nitish Kumar's magic worked in Rupauli nor could 5-time MLA Bima Bharti show anything special.

What were the equations on 13 seats earlier?

Out of these 13 seats in the states, BJP had 3 seats in Bengal. At the same time, 2 seats were occupied by Congress and 8 by others. Congress and TMC have benefited the most from the by-elections on these seats. Congress had fielded candidates on 8 out of 13 seats, the party has won 5 of these seats. At the same time, Mamata Didi's dominance remains intact in Bengal. Here her party has won the by-elections on all four seats of the state. Apart from this, Aam Aadmi Party has managed to save its seat in Punjab, while the most surprising result has been of Rupauli seat of Bihar, here independent candidate Shankar Singh has defeated RJD's Bima Bharti and JDU's Kaladhar Mandal.

Big setback to BJP in Bengal

BJP had won the 2021 assembly elections in Bengal's Ranaghat South, Bagda and Raiganj seats, but now the party has to face defeat on these three seats. By-elections were held on these three seats of Bengal due to the resignation of BJP MLAs, BJP MLAs had resigned and joined TMC. TMC gave a chance to 2 of these candidates in the by-election and won.

Strong message for turncoats

In the by-elections, turncoats have fared badly in all states except Bengal. By-elections were held on all three seats in Himachal due to independent MLAs resigning and joining the BJP, but BJP managed to win only one of these seats. At the same time, turncoats have also faced defeat in Uttarakhand's Badrinath and Punjab's Jalandhar seats. Similarly, the public has taught a tough lesson to Bima Bharti, who has been an MLA from Bihar's Rupauli seat for 5 times. She had to face defeat from Purnia seat in the Lok Sabha elections, while her condition has been even worse in the assembly elections. Bima Bharti, who left JDU and joined RJD, stood third in the by-elections.
