NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu has spoken to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. It is being told that during this time he sought support from opposition leaders for his candidature in the presidential election. New Delhi : NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu has spoken to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. It is being told that during this time he sought support from opposition leaders for his candidature in the presidential election. What kind of assurances these leaders gave them, it is not yet known. However, in the meantime, discussions have started whether Draupadi Murmu will be elected unopposed for the post of President.

It is to be known that Murmu filed his nomination papers today in the presence of senior BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi addressed the Returning Officer P.C. Handed over Murmu's nomination papers to Modi. Senior BJP leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, J.P. Nadda, Chief Ministers of several states and leaders of allies were present.

Apart from BJP leaders, Vijayasai Reddy of YSR Congress, two ministers of Biju Janata Dal government of Odisha and its leader Sasmit Patra, AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam and Thambi Durai and Rajiv Ranjan Singh of Janata Dal (United) were also present. Each set for a presidential nomination must consist of 50 proposers and 50 seconders from among the elected representatives. If elected, Murmu will be the first tribal and second woman president of the country.

Draupadi Murmu will be the first woman tribal president of the country

Coming from the Santhal tribal community, Draupadi Murmu is known for her life of simplicity and struggle. Draupadi Murmu, who lost several family members including her husband and two sons since 2009, raised her daughters in the midst of a tough struggle. Born in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, Draupadi Murmu will be the first tribal woman president of the country if she wins the election. Before filing nomination, Draupadi Murmu met many leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda.
