Why the lawyers prefer in Rajya Sabha?

1. Abhishek Manu Singhvi-

Congress has nominated senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi for a seat in Telangana. Singhvi has been a member of Rajya Sabha earlier as well. In March of 2024, the Congress nominated Singhvi as a Rajya Sabha candidate from Himachal, but Singhvi lost this election.

Singhvi sees the legal case of Congress and big leaders of the party. He has also been made the chairman of the legal committee. Singhvi is currently advocating in the High Court for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This case is related to the land scam. Singhvi is also a lawyer of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case.

2. Manan Kumar Mishra-

Bar Council President Manan Kumar Mishra has been nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. The Bar Council of India is a statutory body constituted by Parliament, which represents lawyers in. Manan Mishra is a resident of Bagaha in Bihar. Mishra also wanted to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bagaha, but this seat went to JDU's account this time.

According to sources, the biggest reason behind sending Mishra to Rajya Sabha is the case of justice code. When the Government of India decided to implement the Indian Justice Code in lieu of the Indian Penal Code, the lawyers came in protest.

3. George Kurien-

BJP has nominated George Kurien from Madhya Pradesh for Rajya Sabha. Currently, Minister Kurien at the Center is also a lawyer of the Supreme Court. Kurien, who came into politics from advocacy, represents the south in the BJP. He is considered the leader of the organization. Kurien is also known for translating the speeches of big leaders.

Under Mission-Kerala, BJP included Kurian in Modi 3.0. Now it was necessary to be sent to Rajya Sabha to preserve this chair, so BJP has sent him to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.

4. Patience Mohan Patil-

The Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated Patience Mohan Patil from Maharashtra for the Rajya Sabha. Patil has also entered politics with advocacy. Patil, a resident of Raigad, earlier used to run his own farmer and labor party. In 2014, he was also elected MLA from this party from Pen seat in Raigad.

In March 2023, Patil joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Through Patil, the BJP wants to strengthen its stronghold in western Maharashtra. In Raigad too, BJP wants to expand through Patil. Of the 6 assembly seats here, BJP has only one seat.
