Citizenship Amendment Act: Just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Modi government has played a big masterstroke. The government has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the country on Monday. After the implementation of CAA, now Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis who entered India from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh on or before 31 December 2014 can be given Indian citizenship. On the implementation of CAA, many opposition parties including Congress have opposed the decision.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has said that it took 4 years and 3 months for the Modi government to notify the CAA. The PM claims that his government works professionally and in a timely manner. This much understanding taken in implementing CAA is another glimpse of the PM's white lie. He said that the government has deliberately chosen the time for the notification just before the Lok Sabha elections. This has clearly been done to polarize the election.

‘Citizens of the country are forced to go out, giving citizenship to others’

Former UP CM and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said that when the citizens of the country are forced to go out for livelihood, then what will happen by bringing citizenship law for others? The public has now understood the BJP's game of politics of distraction. The BJP government should explain why lakhs of citizens gave up their citizenship of the country during their 10 years of rule. He said that whatever this government may do, tomorrow it will have to give account of electoral bonds and then also of PM Care Fund.

Mamta said- This is just lollipop and show off

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that when elections come, BJP starts doing this. If there is discrimination in law, we do not accept it, whether it is religious, linguistic or caste based. Citizenship cannot be given to anyone in two days. This is just lollipop and show off. If some people are called citizens only after CAA, then were these people not citizens earlier?

Sanjay Raut said- this is BJP's last game

On the other hand, reaction of Shiv Sena UBT has also come to the fore. Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut has said that this is their (BJP's) last game. Let it go, let it be implemented. They keep playing these games. As long as there are elections, they will play CAA-CAA, let them play. At the same time, Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan called CAA a communally divisive law and said that it will not be implemented in the state.

CAA aims to target only Muslims: Owaisi

The reaction of AIMIM chief and party MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi has also come to light. Owaisi has said that you should understand the chronology, first the election season will come, then the rules of CAA will come. Our objections to CAA remain the same. CAA is divisive and this law is based on the thinking of Godse who wants to make Muslims second class citizens.

He said that any persecuted person should be given refuge in the country, but citizenship should not be based on religion or nationality. The government should explain why it had kept these rules on hold for five years and why it is implementing them now. Along with NPR-NRC, CAA aims to target only Muslims.
