India / PM Modi will not go to Portugal in May to participate in India-EU summit meeting

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not go to Portugal next month to attend the India-European Union (EU) summit in view of the status of Covid-19. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, "After deliberating with the leadership of the EU and Portugal, it has been decided to hold the meeting on 8 May through digital means."

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his visit to Portugal for the India-EU summit while the France visit is also likely to be rescheduled in view of the Covid-19 crisis.

PM Modi was to travel to Portugal for the 16th India-EU summit that was scheduled for May 8, following which he was to travel to France for a bilateral visit.

In March, PM Modi visited Bangladesh for his first foreign trip since the pandemic curtailed all travel.
