Telangana Politics: Recently, a caste survey has started in Telangana, which has brought a new twist in the politics of the state. There is a sharp rhetoric between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party regarding this survey. BJP MLA A Maheshwar Reddy, raising questions on this caste survey, surrounded the state government and alleged that the Congress government is cheating the people of backward classes through this survey.

Maheshwar Reddy's allegation

BJP MLA Maheshwar Reddy targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and said that conducting a caste survey in the state is one thing, but before that it is also important to know what is the religion and caste of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He also raised the question whether Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi have complete information about their caste and religion.

Maheshwar Reddy also alleged that this move of the Congress government is actually an attempt to promote caste-based politics, which can lead to further division in the society. He said that this survey is not in the interest of the backward class people, but it is being done only for the political benefit of the Congress.

Statement of B Mahesh raising questions on Rahul Gandhi

At the same time, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President B Mahesh also asked questions related to Rahul Gandhi while responding to the allegations of BJP leaders. While talking to the media, B Mahesh made strong comments about Rahul Gandhi's caste and religion. He said that according to Hindu beliefs, caste is determined by lineage, and Rahul Gandhi's grandfather is the grandson of Firoz Jahangir, so he should first find out his caste and religion correctly.

B Mahesh also said that Rahul Gandhi should first get the correct information about his caste and only then speak on this issue. He said that it is very important that leaders know their identity correctly, as this spreads confusion in the society.

BJP's stand focusing on the promises made by Congress

Maheshwar Reddy also questioned the Congress as to why there is a delay in fulfilling the promises made before the elections. He said the promises made by the Congress to the backward classes in the state should be implemented. For instance, there is a 23 per cent quota for backward classes (BCs) in local bodies, which was promised to be increased to 42 per cent. Besides, 42 per cent reservation for backward communities was also promised in government services. Maheshwar Reddy demanded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to fulfill these promises soon.

BJP's future vision

The BJP MLA also said that if his party comes to power in Telangana, they will abolish the 4 per cent BC quota given to minorities. He said the quota is only a political ploy aimed at promoting vote bank politics.

Political and social impact of caste survey

The introduction of caste survey in Telangana has brought freshness to the state's politics but it will also have social and political implications. The caste-based data will help the government understand which areas need improvement for different communities in the state. However, the rhetoric on this issue among political parties shows that there are deep differences over the caste survey and it can also become a part of the election strategy.

Only time will tell what impact the results of the caste survey will have on society, but it is certain that this issue is going to play an important role in the next Telangana assembly elections.
