Exam / REET exam will not be held on April 25

The Rajasthan government has postponed the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) exam to be held on April 25, the day of Mahavir Jayanti. Now REET exam can be conducted in late June or July. However, the new dates of examination have been announced by the government today. This time 1.6 million people have applied for REET.

Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara said in a conversation with Bhaskar, 'There was a review at the Chief Minister level regarding the pending recruitments after the exemption given to the economically weaker section (EWS) under the reservation and educational qualification. After that a committee was formed. As per the recommendations of the committee, it has been decided to postpone the examination of REET. '


Minority Commission also gave instructions to postpone REET

Earlier, on March 23, the National Minorities Commission had written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state instructing not to conduct REET examination on the day of Mahavir Jayanti. Following the directive of the Commission, the Chief Minister had formed a committee on 23 and asked for the report in three days. The committee submitted the report with its recommendations to the Chief Minister on Friday itself. After this, the Chief Minister has approved to postpone the examination on the day of Mahavir Jayanti.


Jain society opposed the exam on Mahavir Jayanti.

Jain society had been protesting since the beginning of getting REET done on the day of Mahavir Jayanti. The issue was raised several times during the budget session in the Legislative Assembly. The people of the Jain society had staged a sit-in in the capital recently on this demand and had submitted a memorandum at different levels and demanded to keep the exam for another day other than Mahavir Jayanti.


Candidates have to wait 2-3 months

The postponement of the REET exam will affect 16 lakh candidates. This time 16 lakh forms were filled. The candidates had been preparing for this for a long time. Now after the decision to postpone the exam, their wait will get longer.


The board president had said - it is not possible to postpone the exam

Chairman of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, Dr. D.P. Jaroli said a week ago that REET would be held on April 25 on the same schedule. He had said before and after that no Sunday was vacant for the examination. Every Sunday there are examinations of various recruitment agencies. In such a situation, the board has no option but to hold the REET on 25 April. He had said that the examination centers are almost finalized.
