Lok Sabha: There is a growing uproar in the Lok Sabha over the 'cow urine' statement given by DMK MP DNV Senthilkumar on Tuesday. An MP from Tamil Nadu's ruling party DMK party had termed the Hindi heartland states as 'cow urine states' in the Parliament. His statement was an indication of BJP's victory in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the recent assembly elections. As soon as he said this, there was an uproar in the political circles from Parliament to outside. Not only has BJP opposed this statement of Senthilkumar, but Congress has also distanced itself from his statement.
What did Senthilkumar say?DMK MP Senthilkumar, while participating in the discussion on 'Jammu Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill' and 'Jammu Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill', said, "The people of this country should think that the power of BJP to win elections is limited only to the states of Hindi belt. We are in what we generally call cow urine state." Senthilkumar further said, "You (BJP) cannot come to South India. You see the election results in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. We are very strong there. You can never dream of establishing a foothold there. Can't complete."BJP surrounded Rahul GandhiBJP leaders condemned the DMK MP's statement and hit back by asking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi if he agreed with his ally's derogatory statements against North Indians. Let us tell you that in the assembly elections held in 5 states, Congress has won only in the South Indian state of Telangana. DMK is also an important partner in the Congress-dominated I.N.D.I alliance.Congress shied awaySenior Maharashtra Congress leader and former minister Milind Deora expressed his displeasure by tweeting on the objectionable comment made by BJP on "Mother Cow" in North India and called it regrettable. In the tweet, he wrote that he himself is a Sanatani and the repeated objectionable comments of DMK MPs on cow mother and Sanatan Dharma and dividing the country into North-South will harm the INDIA alliance and benefit BJP. At the same time, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said that DMK's politics is different. Congress does not agree with his politics. Congress also believes in 'Sanatan Dharma' and 'Gaumata'. We believe in moving forward. Move forward with people of all religions.#WATCH | Winter Session of Parliament | DMK MP DNV Senthilkumar S says "...The people of this country should think that the power of this BJP is only winning elections mainly in the heartland states of Hindi, what we generally call the 'Gaumutra' states..." pic.twitter.com/i37gx9aXyI
