BSNL 5G News: The complete plan of BSNL, the telecom company considered to be the strongman of the telecom industry, has come to the fore. The company is going to start 4G service soon. 5G service will also start within 6 to 8 months of that. According to the information revealed by sources, BSNL has planned to achieve 25 percent share in the telecom industry in the country. The company believes that this target will be completed by the year 2025.

It is clear that the next one and a half years are going to be very difficult for the big private companies of the country. The reason for this is that the tariff rates of the government company are expected to be much lower than those of private companies. Especially the tariffs of 5G can be much lower than those of private companies. In such a situation, BSNL can give tough competition to Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

Similarly, ever since the tariff has been increased by the telecom companies. Since then, people have shifted from private companies to BSNL. This trend may continue in the coming times as well. The government is engaged in reviving the government telecom companies of the country. Therefore, it has started preparing to bring BSNL on 4G and 5G.

What is the target?

In a media report, citing an official, it has been reported that by March 2025, BSNL will expand 4G service across the country. This is being seen as a deadline in a way. This means that crores of customers of the country will move from 2G and 3G to 4G. That too at cheaper rates than private telecom companies. After that, the company plans to start 5G service in the country within 6 to 8 months i.e. by October or November 2025. The company plans to upgrade the existing 4G sites to 5G by converting them into simple cards and upgrading the software. 5G service has been started by Jio, Airtel and Vodafone.

Has BSNL made a complete plan?

A media report has quoted an official as saying that the same technology that operates BSNL's 4G network will also power the 5G network. This will be a kind of cloud-based architecture, which will work with any hardware. The special thing is that the servers handling the core will also be the same. The country's telecom minister recently made a 5G call on a live 4G network in Haryana with the same core, which was connected to the system at C-DoT's Delhi campus.

On the other hand, the country's government telecom company has installed 15,000 4G towers in circles like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Western UP and Haryana. There is a plan to increase the number of towers to 80,000 in October. By March 2025, another 21 thousand towers will be installed. That is, the government is planning to install more than one lakh 4G towers in the country by March 2025. On the other hand, BSNL has given a tender of Rs 19,000 crore to TCS, Tejas Networks and ITI to set up 4G network. This network will also be upgraded to 5G. On August 10, news came that the government telecom company will launch 4G and 5G compatible over-the-air and universal SIM platform.

Will BSNL give sleepless nights to Airtel-Jio?

In the media report, quoting the official, it has been said that BSNL has set a target of achieving 25 percent share in the country's telecom industry by the end of the year 2025. This target is enough to give sleepless nights to Airtel and Jio. The CMD of the government telecom company is currently giving priority to the early rollout of 4G and 5G to retain customers and increase quality. At present, BSNL's market is 7.4 percent. While the number of mobile customers at present is 8.63 crores.

About 40 days ago, the tariff was increased by private telecom service providers. This increase was about 15 percent. After this increase, many customers shifted to BSNL. Within 15 days of the tariff increase, 2,50,000 customers have ported to BSNL. The government is keeping a close eye on this entire project. The government is setting up a project management unit to monitor the progress of the entire project and to ensure that the target is met on time. To revive the company, the government has released Rs 3.2 lakh crore under the package given thrice.
