Maharashtra Election 2024: In a public meeting held in Nandurbar, Maharashtra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP over the Constitution and tribal issues. He stressed that this election is not just a political battle, but a struggle between two different ideologies. Supporting the Congress and India alliance, he said that the country should be run according to the Constitution, while the BJP ignores the Constitution and calls it "blank".

Direct challenge to PM Modi on the Constitution

Rahul Gandhi directly accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that it is wrong to consider the Constitution empty or ineffective. Rahul said, "The Constitution has the voice of the poor, Dalits, backward and tribals. Perhaps Modi ji does not understand what is written in it, because he has not read it." This taunt was on the BJP under the allegation that they do not respect the basic spirit of the Constitution.

'The color of the cover does not matter'

Rahul Gandhi also responded to the allegations in which he was taunted for showing the "Red Book" of the Constitution. Rahul clarified that whether the cover of the Constitution is red or of any other color, the real value lies in the words written inside it. He said that the Congress is ready to fight every struggle to protect the Constitution, even if it means sacrificing lives for it.

Emphasis on the rights of tribals

Raising tribal issues, Rahul Gandhi said that the word "tribal" means the first inhabitants of India. He clarified that tribals have the right over water, forest and land, which was achieved by leaders like freedom fighter Birsa Munda by fighting the British. Rahul targeted the BJP-RSS and said that they call tribals "Vanvasi". According to Rahul, "Adivasi means the original inhabitant of India, while the word Vanvasi deprives them of their rights and considers them only residents of the forests."

Demand for caste census

Rahul Gandhi reiterated the demand for caste census and called it necessary for the upliftment of tribals. He questioned how much participation they have in the schemes made for the welfare of tribals. He said that tribals have a right over the wealth of the country and caste census will reveal their true status.

Attack on Maharashtra government too

Rahul Gandhi accused the Maharashtra government of sending employment-providing projects to other states, due to which the youth here have to go out for employment. Mentioning several projects, Rahul Gandhi said that due to all these, about 5 lakh youth of Maharashtra have lost their jobs, which is a major reason for unemployment here.

Conclusion

This speech of Rahul Gandhi was based on issues like tribal rights, protection of the Constitution, and development of Maharashtra. His words were a call to respect the Constitution and protect its ideals. In this meeting, he also made it clear that his fight is of ideology, where one side talks about the Constitution and public interest, the other side ignores them.
