Waqf Amendment Bill: The Waqf Amendment Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha today at 12 noon. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will present this bill in the Lok Sabha. 8 hours have been set aside for discussion on this bill, but the government has indicated that if the House agrees, the time for discussion can be extended. The government will also reply to the discussion today itself. Along with this, the ruling party BJP has issued a whip to all its MPs asking them to ensure their presence in the House. Similarly, TDP and JDU have also issued whips to their MPs.Opposition oppositionThe opposition is strongly opposing this bill. Congress MP Kiran Kumar Chamala said that if the bill goes against a particular community, it will be opposed. He stressed that the issues raised in a democracy should be discussed and should not be passed forcibly.Congress' Khaliqur Rahman termed the process unconstitutional and alleged that the JPC has ignored the suggestions of the opposition. Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq called the bill a violation of rights and called it a dictatorial step.Reaction of RJD and Jan Suraj PartyRJD leader Tejashwi Yadav called it unconstitutional and alleged that the BJP wants to impose 'Nagpur law'. He said that diversity is the beauty of India and such a bill will not be accepted. At the same time, Prashant Kishore of Jan Suraj Party said that the government is making this law in a hurry and it may be a part of the politics of polarization.Reaction of religious organizationsSajjadanashin of Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, Syed Farid Ahmed Nizami, called this bill controversial. He met the government and registered his objections and said that he has received assurance.
