Why did PM Modi apologize to the elderly?

In his speech, PM Modi said that he apologizes to every elderly person above the age of 70 in Delhi and West Bengal as he will not be able to get them the benefit of "Ayushman Bharat Yojana". He said that "the governments of Delhi and West Bengal are not joining this scheme for political reasons." The aim of the Ayushman Bharat scheme is to provide affordable and quality health services to all citizens, including free treatment for the elderly. But due to the political decisions of these states, the elderly there are not able to get its benefits.

Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card: New security initiative for the elderly

Prime Minister Modi announced on this special occasion of Dhanteras that in his third term, all the elderly above 70 years of age in the country will be brought under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He said that now the elderly will get coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for free on hospitalization. For this, every elderly will be given an "Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card". Through this card, they will be able to easily bear their health related expenses, which will reduce the financial burden on their family.

On this occasion, PM Modi also wished the countrymen a Happy Diwali and Dhanteras. He especially congratulated the traders on this festival and said that this time Diwali will be historic. After 500 years, such a time has come when Deepotsav will be organized at the birthplace of Lord Ramlala in Ayodhya, where this historic festival will be celebrated by lighting thousands of lamps. Describing it as a wonderful festival, he said that this time Diwali is also special because Lord Ram has returned to his home after a wait of 500 years.
