Dharmendra Yadav had earlier got the ticket from Badaun. Later, Akhilesh Yadav gave the ticket to his uncle Shivpal Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav has called a meeting of Samajwadi Party in Kannauj on Tuesday, April 2. All responsible leaders of the party have been called in this. The agenda of the meeting is to finalize the name of the Lok Sabha candidate. For this, opinion will be taken from party leaders. Last time Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav had contested elections from Kannauj. Then Subrata Pathak of BJP had won. Dimple became MP from Mainpuri in the by-election held after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav has not opened his cards yet

Akhilesh Yadav has not yet opened his cards to contest the Lok Sabha elections. He has already given tickets to his brother and wife from Azamgarh and Mainpuri. If he wants to contest elections then Kannauj is the only option left. Sources claim that this time Akhilesh is in favor of not contesting the elections. Akhilesh has also given such indications in the meetings with his close leaders, but the party workers and supporters of Kannauj have been repeatedly appealing to Akhilesh to contest the elections.

Tej Pratap is asking for ticket from Kannauj

If Akhilesh Yadav does not contest the elections then who can get the ticket for Kannauj? Right now two names are under consideration. The first name is Akhilesh Yadav's cousin Tej Pratap Yadav. He has been a Lok Sabha MP from Mainpuri. This incident is from the year 2014. Then Mulayam Singh Yadav had won elections from Mainpuri and Azamgarh. Then he left the Mainpuri seat. Since then Tej Pratap did not get a chance to contest elections. He appears to be Lalu Yadav's son-in-law by relationship. Tej Pratap is continuously demanding ticket from Akhilesh Yadav, but till now no decision has been taken in his name.

Discussion intensifies on these two other names also

Apart from Tej Pratap Yadav alias Teju, the name of Rekha Verma is also being discussed. He is an MLA from Vidhuna seat of Auraiya district. Bidhuna assembly seat is now in Kannauj Lok Sabha. Rekha Verma belongs to Lodh community. She is the daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party's founding member Dhaniram Verma. Dhaniram Verma was the founding member of Samajwadi Party. He was also the Speaker of the UP Assembly. Akhilesh Yadav wants to spoil the game of BJP in that area by giving ticket to the leader of Lodh community.
