Rajasthan Election: Voting took place peacefully in Jodhpur, the second largest district of Rajasthan, but after the voting, there was panic in the administration due to the disappearance of the control unit of EVM. It is being told that the Sector Officer had collected the EVM machines and supporting materials from the Collector premises after the completion of voting from various booths. But when he reached the Polytechnic College to deposit it, one EVA control panel was found missing. The administration was relieved by the news of the control panel being damaged. It was fortunate that it was the control panel of the reserve unit, which had not been used during the voting, otherwise it would have become a cause of big trouble for the administration.

As soon as the information about the disappearance of the control panel was received, the Sector Officer submitted a written complaint to the Uday Mandir police station, after which the Uday Mandir police station is engaged in investigating the matter. At present, it is not known whether this control panel was stolen or the sector officer accidentally lost it somewhere.

What is control unit?

EVM i.e. Electronic Voting Machine is made from two units. First control unit and second ballot unit. These units are connected to each other through cables. The control unit machine of the EVM is kept with the presiding officer or polling officer and the balloting unit machine is kept inside the voting compartment for the voters to cast their votes. Actually this is done to ensure that the polling officer can confirm the identity of the voter. With EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines), instead of issuing a ballot paper, the polling officer presses the ballot button, allowing the voter to cast his vote. A list of candidates' names and symbols is available on the machine with corresponding blue buttons. The voter casts his vote by pressing the button given in front of the name of the candidate for whom he wants to vote.

Sector officer suspended

When District Collector and District Election Officer Himanshu Gupta got information that the Sector Officer and the control panel machine were not available, he took the matter seriously and issued orders to suspend Sector Officer Pankaj Jakhar with immediate effect. Did it. At present, the police is busy gathering information through CCTV footage and other means whether the EVM control panel machine has really been stolen or lost somewhere in the hands of the sector officer.
