Indonesia News: Heavy rains have caused devastation in Indonesia. After the rain, flood like situations have arisen in many areas. Heavy rains and mud flowing from the slopes of a volcano caused flash floods on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. At least 37 people died and more than 12 are missing due to the floods. Officials have given information about this.

People washed away in flood

National Disaster Management Agency spokesman Abdul Muhari said monsoon rains and the cooled lava slopes of Mount Marapi caused the mudflows. Muddy water caused landslides. Due to heavy rain, a river overflowed on Saturday midnight. Due to the rising river, many villages in four districts of West Sumatra province were flooded. He said many people were swept away in the flood and more than 100 houses and buildings were submerged. Cooled lava is a mixture of volcanic material and debris that flows down the slopes of a volcano in rain.

Search for missing people continues
