Jharkhand Elections 2024: Preparations for the Jharkhand assembly elections have been completed, in which voting for 81 assembly seats will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20. This time the electoral contest will be mainly between the BJP-led NDA and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMMA)-led India Alliance. Ruling CM Hemant Soren is facing a tough challenge from the NDA.

Women voters: The key to the ruling party

The role of women is going to prove to be important on the electoral chessboard this time in Jharkhand. According to the data of the Election Commission, the number of women voters in 32 assembly seats of the state is more than male voters. Of these, 26 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, where women voters can influence the results of the election.

Hemant Soren's constituency: Barhet

CM Hemant Soren is contesting from Barhet assembly constituency. The number of women voters on this seat is more than that of men. Out of a total of 2.25 lakh voters, 1.15 lakh are women. Soren has won continuously in this area since 2005, but this time the role of women will be important in his victory or defeat.

Champai Soren's political future

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren is contesting from Saraikela assembly constituency. Champai has decided to contest from this seat for the first time after joining BJP. Here too the number of women voters is more than men, in which there are 1.85 lakh women and 1.83 lakh male voters. For Champai, this election will prove to be a litmus test of his political future, and the decision of women voters will be important in this election.

Majhgaon: Lead in the number of women

The situation is similar in Majhgaon assembly seat of West Singhbhum district. There are 1.21 lakh women voters here, while the number of male voters is 1.12 lakh. These figures make it clear that the voice and influence of women voters is increasing in the politics of Jharkhand.

Efforts to woo women voters

Understanding the importance of women's votes, all political parties are trying to woo them in their own way. Hemant Soren's government has launched the "Maiyya Samman Yojana", under which more than 50 lakh women of the state are being given Rs 1,000 per month. Soren has promised that if his party wins, this amount will be increased to Rs 2,500.

At the same time, BJP has also announced the "Gogo Didi Yojana", under which women have been promised Rs 2,100 per month if they come to power.

Conclusion

This time women can play a decisive role in the Jharkhand assembly elections. Their votes will decide which party will form the government in the state. It has become necessary for political parties to understand the needs and aspirations of women voters and prepare their election issues keeping them in mind. In the upcoming elections, women voters will not only be the key to power but will also determine the political direction of the state.
