The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Technical and Sanskrit Education Dr. Subhash Garg has said that the integrated education policy based on multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional and multi-cultural values is the need of the hour. For this, Higher Education, Medicine, Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Technical Education will all have to be brought under one umbrella. Only then can students develop their skills by developing trans-disciplinary understanding in line with today's AI and robotics era.MoS Dr. Garg was addressing a state-level workshop on 'New Education Policy in the context of Technical Education in Rajasthan' at Prabha Bhavan, MNIT Jaipur on Tuesday. He said that considering the moratorium imposed by AICTE and BCI on opening of new engineering and law colleges, respectively, these All India Bodies should re-think and re-invent their role in imparting quality education. Citing his own example he said, despite being a politician he consider himself a teacher first. Therefore, it was his responsibility to keep education away from politics and all teachers also should keep this responsibility. He said that we need to improve the quality of education by maintaining a sense of social concern.
Focus should be on trans-disciplinary education, not blackboard -driven learning- Prof. Dinesh Singh, Ex.VC, D.U.Prof. Singh said that with the advent of artificial intelligence and robotics, major employment generating sectors of India were bound to face serious challenges until we shift our focus to trans-disciplinary education. He said that the basis of India's ancient culture has been scientific. The ancient temples here were built on the basis of the principles of calculus in mathematics. We need to bring back that glory of science in the country.Giving an example, he said that students want to make fighter planes but don’t want to understand the nuances of fluid dynamics. The reason behind is that the education in India is blackboard driven, we need to shift away from this and emphasize on trans-disciplinary education.
Secretary Technical Education Vaibhav Galaria, Director MNIT Prof. Udayakumar R. Yergatti, VC RTU Prof. R.A. Gupta, AICTE adviser Dr. Rajiv Kumar, VC BTU Prof. HD Charan, CTO (Industry Solutions) of Huawei Mr, Nick Guang Lu and many other distinguished educationists were present in the workshop.
