After the completion of the construction work of the new Parliament building, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met PM Modi on Thursday and requested him to inaugurate this building. In view of this, on August 5, 2019, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha urged the government to construct a new building for the Parliament.

The newly constructed building of the Parliament has been prepared in record time with quality. 888 members will be able to sit in the Lok Sabha

In the present building of the Parliament, there is a provision for the meeting of 550 honorable members in the Lok Sabha while 250 in the Rajya Sabha. Keeping in view the future requirements, arrangements have been made for a meeting of 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 members in the Rajya Sabha in the newly constructed building of the Parliament. The joint session of both the Houses will be held in the Lok Sabha Chamber only.

The building of this new Parliament House has been designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. On May 26, 9 years of Modi government are being completed. The new parliament building is four storeyed. If we talk about its specialty, then it has been built at a cost of 970 crores.

Spread over 64 thousand 500 square meters, this new parliament building has 3 main gates. They have been named Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar and Karma Dwar. This building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will help the members to perform their functions in a better way.
