Champai Soren: Two sub-inspectors of the Special Branch of Jharkhand Police were arrested from Taj Hotel in Delhi on Tuesday evening on charges of spying on former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren. The case has emerged as a serious security breach and violation of privacy, which has created a stir in political circles.

Key details:

In a press conference held in Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sharma revealed the matter. According to Sharma, these sub-inspectors of Jharkhand Police were assigned the task of monitoring the activities of Champai Soren by a person holding a constitutional post. The investigation has also revealed that these sub-inspectors were deployed for this work by Jharkhand Police IG Prabhat Kumar.

Spying details:

Sharma revealed that these sub-inspectors were also following Champai Soren on August 18 when he came to Delhi. On August 26, when Soren came to Delhi from Kolkata, these two sub-inspectors were on the same flight and had booked rooms on the same floor in the Taj Hotel where Soren and his close aides were staying.

Caught:

On Tuesday evening, Champai Soren's supporters caught these sub-inspectors while they were clicking pictures of Soren and his aides. Sharma indicated that a woman had also visited his room, which suggests that this could be an attempt at honeytrap.

Suspicion of phone tapping:

Himanta Vishwa Sharma saw this incident as a serious violation of privacy and suspected that Champai Soren's phone may also have been tapped. He accused the Congress and the JMM of violating the Constitution despite talking about protecting it and demanded a thorough investigation into the entire matter.

Political context:

This matter has become even more sensitive because Champai Soren has recently announced to leave the JMM and join the BJP. Soren will join the BJP at a function in Ranchi on August 30, which makes the matter important from a political point of view as well.

This serious incident has raised political and security questions not only in Jharkhand but across the country. The Delhi Police is now conducting a detailed investigation into the matter, and the outcome of this investigation may answer many important questions.
