Agniveer Yojana: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited his Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli on Tuesday. This is the first visit of the Congress leader to the parliamentary constituency after becoming the leader of the opposition. During this, martyr Captain Anshuman Singh's father Ravi Pratap Singh and his mother Manju Singh have met Rahul Gandhi. This family hails from Deoria in UP. Martyr Anshuman has recently received the Kirti Chakra from the President.Martyr Captain Anshuman's mother Manju, who came out after meeting Rahul Gandhi, said that the Agniveer scheme should be stopped. On this, Rahul told her that he will keep fighting. Earlier, on reaching Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi offered prayers at Churuva Hanuman Temple in Bachhrawan. It is expected that Rahul will meet Congress workers and address public meetings.On the morning of 19 July 2023, several tents of the Indian Army caught fire in Siachen Glacier. Regimental Medical Officer Captain Anshuman Singh, a resident of Deoria, was martyred in the accident. Anshuman Singh got married 5 months ago on 10 February. Captain Anshuman had gone to Siachen just 15 days ago. Captain Anshuman was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra at Rashtrapati Bhavan. His wife Smriti and mother Manju received the award.Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi visited violence-affected Manipur and met the affected people. He had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state and console the victims of violence. He had also said that India Block is ready to assist in every step that can improve the situation in the violence-hit state and restore peace.
