Agnipath Scheme / 'Compensation and insurance are different'- Rahul Gandhi again raised questions on Ajay Kumar's case

Agnipath Scheme: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has again raised questions on the claims of the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar Singh, who was martyred in the line of duty. He has said that Ajay Kumar Singh's family has not received any compensation. Ajay Kumar died on 18 January in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Rahul Gandhi shared a video on Twitter which is allegedly of Ajay Kumar's father. He said that his family received Rs 50 lakh as insurance from a private bank and Rs 48 lakh from the Army Group Insurance Fund.

The army had given a statement

The army had already clarified on this matter that Rs 98.39 lakh has been paid to the family. ADG PI said that the Indian Army salutes the sacrifice of Agniveer Ajay Kumar. Also, it was said that Rs 98.39 lakh has already been paid to the family of martyr Agniveer. He said that the total amount would be Rs 1.65 crore. According to the rules of the Agniveer scheme, the help of Rs 67 lakh will be given after police verification.

The Indian Army had rejected Rahul Gandhi's claim on social media that compensation has not been given to the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar. The army had said that his family has already been given Rs 98.39 lakh out of the outstanding amount. The army had said that they will be given a total amount of about 1.65 crore.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said in a video on Friday that the family has not received any compensation or ex-gratia. He claimed that the government has not given any compensation to the family of Punjab's 'martyr Agniveer' Ajay Kumar and the family has received insurance amount.

Rahul said in the video, the family of martyr Agniveer Ajay Kumar ji has not received any compensation from the government till date. There is a difference between compensation and insurance and the martyr's family has been paid only by the insurance company.

He said that the assistance that should have been given to the family of martyr Ajay Kumar from the government has not been received. The family of every martyr who sacrifices his life for the country should be respected, but the Modi government is discriminating against them. He said, 'Whatever the government says, this is a matter of national security and I will keep raising it. 'India' will never let the coalition army weaken.'

In the video, Ajay Kumar's father said that his family has not received any money from the central government. He has demanded facilities and pension. He also demanded that his family be given canteen cards. He said, "Rajnath Singh said that one crore rupees have been given to the families of the martyrs. We did not get that."

The Congress on Thursday asked the government to bring a "white paper" on the Agneepath scheme for short-term military recruitment.

The Agneepath scheme, launched in 2022, provides for short-term recruitment of personnel in the armed forces by reducing the age limit in the three armies. Those recruited under this scheme are called Agniveers.

The family of the martyr should be respected - Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi further said that the family of every martyr who sacrifices his life for the country should be respected but the Modi government is discriminating against them. Whatever the government says, this is a matter of national security and I will keep raising it. India Alliance will never let the Indian Army weaken. In the video, the martyr's father said that his family has not received any money from the central government. He said that his family should get all the facilities and pension. He said that a canteen card should also be made for his family.

The martyr's family did not get compensation

The martyr's father said that Rajnath Singh had said that the families of the martyrs would be given Rs 1 crore. We did not get even that. Rahul Gandhi said that the truth is that there are two types of martyrs in the country, one is a normal soldier and the other is Agniveer. He said that both will be martyrs but one will get the status of a martyr while the other will not. One will get pension while the other will not. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that one will get canteen facilities and the other will not. If someone has sacrificed his life for the country, then he should be given respect.
