Hemant Soren News: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. Hemant Soren's bail will remain. The Supreme Court refused to interfere with the bail order. The apex court rejected the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) petition against the bail granted to Hemant Soren by the High Court. The ED had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the bail order of the Jharkhand High Court. The Supreme Court said that the High Court's order is a good decision. The judge has given a logical verdict. We are not inclined to interfere with the order. However, the High Court's comments will not have any effect on the trial.

Arrest was made on January 31

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha i.e. JMM leader Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in a money laundering case related to the land scam. Even before the arrest, Hemant Soren had resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand. After getting bail from the High Court, Soren again took oath as CM on July 4. While granting bail to Soren, the Jharkhand High Court had said that looking at the case, there is no possibility of the petitioner committing an offence of similar nature.

Challenge to High Court order

Opposing Soren's bail plea, the ED had alleged that he had misused his position as chief minister to illegally acquire 8.86 acres of land in the Badgam zone in the state capital. The ED had claimed that during the investigation, Hemant Soren's media advisor Abhishek Prasad had admitted that the former chief minister had directed him to tamper with official data to change the ownership of the said plot. The ED had said that when the plot was being occupied, its real owner Rajkumar Pahan tried to lodge a complaint, but it was never acted upon. Challenging the High Court order, the ED had moved the Supreme Court.
